What's on

News: Since its formation the London Technology Network (LTN) has done excellent work to accelerate knowledge transfer between academia and industry, and enabled access to the expertise housed within universities.

However, in a time of public sector stringency, it has not proved possible to secure its long term financial position. The decision has therefore been taken by the member institutions to seek a voluntary liquidation and bring an ordered end to the organisation.

UCL, King's and Imperial remain committed to working with industry in the development of new research and in the application of that research for economic benefit, through a variety of mechanisms including consultancy, training and technology transfer. Each institution has its own strategy to suit their specific situation and requirements.

Connecting you to the UK research base

Since 2002, LTN has recruited a network of research scientists from over 250 leading university research departments covering medical/life and computing/physical/engineering sciences and design. LTN works with these scientists (known as Business Fellows), and their colleagues and knowledge transfer offices to accelerate knowledge transfer between academia and industry.

As a result, LTN is linked to 7,000 research-active academics in 40+ UK universities including Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial College London, University College London and King’s College London.

By introducing companies to the region’s research base, LTN has helped generate millions of pounds in turnover and introduce scores of new product lines.

In the 6 years ending June 2010 LTN generated

  • 8,200 negotiations between companies and research scientists
  • 1,750 of which resulted in collaborations

The vast majority of these collaborations were with businesses who had not previously collaborated with the university.

To find out more about how we can connect you to the UK's best researchers, email enquiries@LTNetwork.org or phone +44(0)870 765 7602.
